Meet the Hosts and Ambassadors of Podhale Tradition at the 57th International Festival of Highland Folklore!

Meet the Hosts and Ambassadors of Podhale Tradition at the 57th International Festival of Highland Folklore! Before Zakopane welcomes ensembles from around the world, we would like to introduce the groups that have proudly preserved the culture of Podhale for generations and help create the unique atmosphere of our Festival.

🏔️ School Regional Ensemble “Budorze”
For nearly 60 years, the School Regional Ensemble “Budorze” has been active at the Dr. Władysław Matlakowski School of Construction in Zakopane, continuing a tradition that dates back to the 1940s.

Recipients of the Golden Ciupaga Award and the Meritorious for Polish Culture distinction, the ensemble will serve as hosts of the Polish Highlanders’ Day during this year’s Festival, officially opening the event and welcoming performers and audiences from across the globe.

🎻 Regional Ensemble “Bartusie” named after Bartuś Obrochta
The Regional Ensemble “Bartusie” is a multi-generational group of enthusiasts devoted to preserving Podhale culture. The ensemble was revived to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of the legendary Highland musician Bartuś Obrochta.

During the Festival, they will present a special Highland Wedding performance and host an event dedicated to their patron, showcasing the life, work, and cultural legacy of one of Podhale’s most celebrated musicians.

💃 Children’s Ensemble “Małe Klimki”
For generations, Małe Klimki has nurtured the authentic folklore of Podhale while educating successive generations of dancers and musicians.

For many years, the ensemble has played an active role in the International Festival of Highland Folklore. Its members perform during the Opening Concert and proudly lead international groups in the colorful festival parade through the streets of Zakopane, carrying signs with the names of participating countries and ensembles.

This year, together with the members of Małe Klimki, we will attempt to set a record in the traditional Highland zbójnicki dance and in the spectacular girl-twirling dance figures.

🎉 Everyone will be welcome to join the fun and participate in the record attempt!

❤️ These ensembles will be the first to introduce us to the spirit of Highland tradition before artists from numerous countries take to the festival stages.

The organizers of the 57th International Festival of Highland Folklore are the City of Zakopane and the Zakopane Cultural Center.
