August in Zakopane – A Month Packed with Exciting Events

August in Zakopane promises to be exceptionally exciting. Residents and visitors alike can look forward to major international outdoor events, as well as a wide range of cultural and recreational attractions.

From August 14 to 18, the International Fair of Regional Products will take place on Upper Krupowa Meadow. This is a fantastic opportunity to sample regional delicacies from around the world and enjoy concerts, performances by folk ensembles, and the annual Romani Day celebrations.

On August 15 and 16, Polsat Television will broadcast its popular morning show “Halo tu Polsat” live from Zakopane, in cooperation with the City of Zakopane and the Małopolska Tourist Organization. The programme will feature interviews with special guests, live broadcasts, family picnics, cooking demonstrations, activity zones, and many other attractions.

The highlight of the summer season will be the 56th International Festival of Highland Folklore, taking place from August 21 to 27 on Lower Krupowa Meadow. More than 600 performers from around the world will showcase the culture and traditions of their regions while competing for the Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ciupaga awards. Festival highlights include a colorful parade through the streets of Zakopane, a traditional Highland Wedding, the Podhale Horse-Driving Championships, and the Grand Finale Concert featuring all participating ensembles. Confirmed participants include groups from Senegal, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This summer also brings new opportunities for active recreation. “Yoga Under the Tatras” takes place every Saturday, while selected summer evenings feature open-air dance events on Independence Square.

Throughout the holiday season, visitors can also enjoy the LOTTO Summer Cinema. Free outdoor movie screenings are held every evening on Independence Square, offering a unique cinema experience under the stars.

History and architecture enthusiasts are invited to join the free guided walks organized by PTTK as part of the “Free City Tours” project. These tours provide an opportunity to discover Zakopane’s most fascinating landmarks and learn about the town’s rich history.

After a day of mountain adventures, visitors can relax in the heart of Zakopane and take advantage of the town’s diverse cultural and entertainment offer. Concerts, festivals, outdoor events, open-air cinema screenings, and family attractions ensure that everyone, regardless of age or interests, will find something to enjoy.

We invite you to Zakopane, where the beauty of the Tatra Mountains meets a unique atmosphere, rich culture, and genuine Highland hospitality.
